3 years later: 3 tips for my younger creator self.

How I went from shy, insecure artist with 0 followers to a confident creator & published writer with over 5000 followers.

  1. “hack” the algorithm

your “metrics” for success aren’t only followers or likes.

create for the joy of it.

if it’s just for the algorithm, you’ll burn out.

create work that you’re proud of.
create work that builds your skills.
create work that promotes lifelong learning.

so even if a post flops, you won’t get discouraged.

Personal growth is a gift nobody can take away from you. Even if you have a shit day, if you learned, it’s a win in your book.

2. how to find your niche of 1.

Specificity cuts through the noise.

If you have 1 follower, write like you have 1000 (confidence-wise)

If you have 1000 followers, write like you have 1 (specificity-wise)

Write like you’re advising a close friend.

write to yourself:

  • younger self (advice/ mistakes to avoid)
  • current self (action steps & mental frameworks)
  • future self (goals & motivation).

3. be f*cking honest!

in a world of gurus, be a guide.

if an industry myth doesn’t work for you, write about it! there will be others that resonate- but you can’t find them if you don’t share.

that’s how I got my book idea-tired of productivity gurus & their unbreakable habits & cold showers. as someone who got burned by hustle culture, I wanted an alternative.

some of my most resonating posts were written from my pain points (i.e. what productivity is vs isn’t, comparison carousel)

Keep going. follower counts & numbers are lagging measures of success. You won’t see fruit on the day you plant the seed.
